E. Leigh Wilkinson

E. Leigh Wilkinson brings a distinguished career in ophthalmology to the US Friends of AMAR Board. He was the Student Body President at East High School (Salt Lake City) in 1970-71 and earned his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Utah in 1975. He received his Medical Degree from the University of Utah in 1979, followed by an Ophthalmology Residency at the University of Kentucky (1979-83) and a Glaucoma Fellowship at UCLA’s Jules Stein Eye Institute (1983-84). Wilkinson is a Fellow of the American Board of Ophthalmology. His career in private practice includes time in Poway, California (1984-1990) and Rocky Mountain Eye Care in Salt Lake City (1990-2020). He has also contributed as a volunteer ophthalmologist at the Fourth Street Clinic (2021-23) and for Ukraine refugees (2024) through US Friends of AMAR.

A golf enthusiast, Leigh participated in the 1969 U.S.G.A Junior Championship, was a member of the BYU Golf team (1971-72), has won several club championships in California and Utah, and has been a golf course rater for Golf Digest since 2010. Leigh and his wife Nancy have been married for 50 years and have 5 children and 15 grandchildren.
